A recording of you working is information about you.
That is not a technicality: it is where your right to withdraw actually comes from, and it is the thing the whole arrangement is built on. You own your skill, always and forever. This page is about the record of it, and about the little this site takes from a reader.
What a recording is.
This page is about two different things, and they are kept apart. The first is a recording of you working, which is what the site is about. The second is the site you are reading.
What happens to a recording once you press stop, who can open it, what is never kept in it, and why deleting every copy takes longer than taking it out of service. The same answers as the ones on this page, in the words a person would use at the end of a shift.
Where it is keptA session records one person working: what their hands did, what the machine did back, and what they were looking at when they acted. It identifies the person in the seat, by design, because a way of working with no name attached could not be licensed, credited or paid for.
It will be kept by us, in Canada, and it will not leave Canada. Nothing has been recorded yet. So a session is personal information about an identifiable person, and the rights that attach to it are theirs and not their employer's:
- 01To be told, before it startsWhat is recorded, what is not, where it is kept, who can reach it, in the same words we use with the person paying for it.
- 02To agree separatelyConsent comes apart. Yes to being recorded is not yes to being combined with others, not yes to running under your name, and not yes to being used to train a model.
- 03To withdrawAt any time, at no cost, and without your employer's agreement. Nothing new starts under it from the day the withdrawal arrives.
- 04To be told the true deletion dateIncluding backups, and including the limit where a model cannot be un-trained. The real date, not the convenient one.
- 05To see what is heldAnd to see the count of hours it worked and what is owed for them.
Your skill is yours. What is made of it is ours, for you, and it runs under your name.
The recording belongs to Even Steven, for the person it is about, and the permission under it is yours to end. What we build from admitted sessions is a tool: it runs under your name, on your licence, pays you every hour it works, what it earns passes to your family for as long as the licence runs, and you can end it. We make the tool. You own the skill. Withdraw and nothing new starts under it, the job already running finishes, and then it is out of service, because the licence under it is gone.
So we do not call the record anonymous, because it is not, and nothing here is built on the idea that it could be. A name is what was asked for, a name is what the count is written to, and a name is what the rights on this page attach to.

What it collects, which is almost nothing.
The other thing this page covers is the site you are reading. What a page here takes from a reader is named below, line by line, and there is not much of it.
One page-view counter
Our host, Cloudflare, adds its Web Analytics script to each page and processes what it gathers for us. It counts page views and how fast pages load, and what we are shown are totals, not a list of people. It sets no cookie and does not follow you to other sites. There are no advertising pixels, and we set no cookies of our own.
No fonts or files called in
The type is served from this site rather than from somebody else's, so reading a page here does not tell a third party you were here.
Server logs
Our host keeps ordinary request logs to serve the site and keep it up. We do not build profiles from them.
If you write to us
We keep your message and your address so we can reply and so we can find it again. Ask us to delete it and we will, and we will tell you when it is done.

None of that has to be taken on our word. A page here loads what it says it loads, and anybody who knows where to look can see that for themselves.
You are asked, separately, and checked at the moment of recording.
It is not one signature. It is separate agreements, each given on its own and withdrawn on its own, so you can say yes to one and no to another and the no is honoured without emptying anything else.
To be recorded at all
Permission to make the record. Nothing else follows from it.
To be combined with others
Permission for your work to go into one built thing with more than one person's way of working in it.
To run under your name
Permission for a way of working to be licensed under your name, for somebody else's job.
To be used to train a model
Permission for the record to be used to train a model rather than to run a machine.
A record used to train a model, which is most of what people mean when they say AI, is a different thing, and it is asked for on its own. Nothing learns from your record unless you said yes to that one, on its own, with its limit stated to you first.
Machines that learnChecked live, not looked up afterwards
A session made while the agreement covering it was not live is refused, and the reason says so. That is a procedure rather than a judgement, so it is written as one. A consent that is only verified when somebody complains is not a consent, it is a filing system.
Yours to give, whoever arranged the day
Only the person in the seat can agree to a recording, whoever arranged the day. You are told what is recorded, in plain words, before it starts. Without your yes there is no session, whatever has been arranged.
Where a body speaks for the crew, its signature sits beside yours and neither stands in for the other.

Without your yes there is no session.
Separate agreements, each given on its own and withdrawn on its own.
What is held under your name is yours to open.
To see what is held is one of the five rights above, and nobody holds it on your behalf. The repository has a door for the person whose way of working it is, and it opens on your name and on nobody else's.

Every session under your name, and everything that happened to it afterwards.
What was recorded, session by session, with the day, the machine and the agreement that covered you at the moment the recording was made. What was admitted and what was refused, with the reason named. What was built from it, and where it is listed under your name.
The hours it has worked and what you are owed for them, written from the choice that cleared each job, so every hour has a name beside it. And if you have withdrawn, the day it took effect and the true date every copy is gone.
How you get in.
You ask for a link and it is sent to your address, good once. Nobody here can sign in as you, and your employer does not see your record.
You can end it, and the date you are given means every copy.
Give notice and it comes out of service. No penalty, no clawback, no fee. From the day it arrives, no new job starts under it. A job already underway finishes, because stopping a machine mid-pass is its own hazard.
Deleting every copy takes longer than taking it out of service, because backups run to a horizon. The date you are given for deletion is the day the last copy is gone, not the day the first one went.
What a withdrawal obliges us to do, step by step, is on its own page, and none of it waits on us being ready.
You gave the consent, so you can take it back, and it does not require your employer's agreement or anybody else's.

A record used to train a model is a different thing from a record used to run a machine, and it gets a different yes. So what we can promise is only what is possible: no new deployments from the day the withdrawal lands, and the material removed at the next revision of that model, with the date stated before you ever agree to it. That is a real limit and you are entitled to know it before you decide, rather than after.
Machines that learnA change of ownership should be a reason to withdraw, on its own. You agreed to terms offered by particular people. The right to walk at that moment, on your own say, is one of the points the agreement is being built around, so that it does not depend on whoever ends up holding it.
Where these rights come from, and which is which.
Privacy law attaches consent and withdrawal rights to information about an identifiable person directly. The entitlement to be paid is created by the agreement. A person deciding whether to take part should know what they could enforce and what they are relying on us for, so the two are kept apart here.
Privacy law gives you
Consent and withdrawal, attached to information about you directly, and to you rather than to whoever arranged the recording.
The agreement gives you
The entitlement to be paid, the count and the accounting. Created by the agreement itself, and each written against a counterpart on our side.
Neither gives you
A property right in the technique, and you do not need one. It stays with you, in your own career, whatever any paper says.
Whether a recording arrangement affects your employment agreement, your obligations to an employer, or your position under a collective agreement is for your own counsel or your own representative. We will not offer a view on it, and anyone selling you something who does is telling you what suits them.
This notice describes how the site behaves today and how recordings are designed to be handled. Nothing has been recorded yet and the agreements are still being written, and where that stands is on its own page. This notice will be reviewed by counsel and reissued before any recording is made, and the version in force at that time is the one that will govern.
Not sold on, not passed on, not used against you, and not called anonymous.
A recording is licensed for the uses you said yes to. Each refusal below protects the reason a person would take part at all.
- Never sell a record on. A session is information about an identifiable person. It goes nowhere without their yes, and whoever licenses a way of working cannot pass it to anybody else.
- Never supply it against you. A use you did not agree to is not one we supply it for.
- Never buy a person's technique. It stays with them, in their career, whatever any paper says. What is made of it is ours, for the person it came from, and the skill behind it is never ours to buy.
- Never rank anybody. Nobody here is picked from a list or scored against the next person. People are asked for by name, by somebody who has seen them work.
- Never call it anonymous. A session identifies the person in the seat by design, and a record with the name taken off it is not one anybody could be paid for.
- A name can be withheld, and the word for that is coded. The Tacit Tessera register holds the name and the page does not show it. A coded entry is paid, counted and ended exactly like a named one, and it is still never called anonymous.
- Never wire anything to a machine while a person works. The recorder watches from outside it, connected to nothing, and comes off leaving no mark.
What a session carries is set out on its own page, field by field, and the frame is kept tight on purpose, with as little else in it as we can manage.
Write to us, and a person answers.
Every right on this page is used by asking. There is no special form for it and no office to find. Say what you want to know, and say who you are, so that what is yours can be found.
About a recording
Ask what is held under your name, session by session, and what was built from it. Ask for an accounting of the hours and what you are owed. Say no to a use you did not agree to. Withdraw, one agreement at a time or all of them, and be told the true date.
About this site
Ask what we hold about you. If you have written to us, it is your message and your address. If you have not, there is nothing held under your name, only the ordinary logs the host keeps to serve the site. Ask us to delete a message and we will, and we will tell you when it is done.
Write to [email protected]. A person reads it. Writing to us puts you on nothing, and if you want to hear from us again you have to say so.
Personal information collected through this site is held by Ripple Rock Industrial Group Ltd., which operates as Even Steven. A privacy officer will be named on this page before anyone is asked to consent to anything. The terms of use of this site are short, and they are on their own page.
For the owner, the operator and the people who can say no.
This site takes almost nothing from you, and the address on your message is used to answer it. A recording you arrange is information about the person in the seat, and the rights that attach to it are theirs. You see the hours a licensed way of working ran on your own machines, on the same record they see, and nothing else of theirs.
A recording of you working is information about you, so it is yours to allow and yours to withdraw, whoever arranged the day. You can open your own record on a link sent to your address, say no to a use, ask for an accounting, and end it free, with the true date told to you.
Nothing held under this notice reaches a machine.
The rights here rest on privacy law and on the agreement, not on a claim over technique. Where a works council, a union or another body has a say in whether recording happens at all, the instrument takes that second signature. This notice will be reissued before any recording is made, and the version in force then is the one that governs.
Ask what is held under your name.
Write to us and a person tells you what there is, whose it is, and how to end it, with nothing to sign.
